It seems that everywhere you look on the internet, you are bombarded with offers of huge income potential with an affiliate marketing program. Unfortunately, a very large percentage of these programs are scams. There are, however, some very real affiliate programs available that can be found with a little bit of serious research. So, how can one join an affiliate program making money? The first key is to forget about any chance of getting rich quick. Just as with any job or business, it takes a lot of work on your part to make money with an affiliate program. If the offer makes wildly inflated promises about the amount of money you can make in a week, or even a day, you should avoid this program because it is most likely a scam. An honest affiliate program will allow you to make money based on your own work, and a percentage off the work of others in your "downline" Look for a legitimate product that you can sell. All affiliate programs have to start out with a product or line of products for sale. However, many lose focus on the selling of the product and spend more time getting you to recruit people under you. Then you have to buy the product to sell it to those in your downline, or some such scheme. If the opportunity is legitimate, there will be emphasis placed on the product and developing your sales skills before recruitment. Some of the most popular affiliate programs sell dietary supplements, cosmetics, colognes or perfumes, or even jewelry. Avon, Mary Kay, Watkins, and Blair are four of the most well known affiliate marketing programs that are known to be 100% legitimate. There are others, but one may have to dig through a lot of junk to find them. Whether or not you are able to join an affiliate program making money is a direct function of the amount of work you are willing to put into it. After all, you are an independent representative for the company whose products are being offered, not an employee. Remember to focus your efforts on building your own client base before worrying about recruiting people to sell under you. If the company pushes recruitment over actual sales, you should abandon this particular program before you spend any more of your money. Your goal is to make money, not spend it on a useless product or advertising to recruit your own competition. You should also remember that how much or how little money you can make is in your own hands. Do not count on money from people below you in line. Many of them are looking to get rich quick. When they learn that actual work is involved, they will drop out and leave you holding the bag.
